Generative engine optimization for beauty & cosmetics manufacturers

Generative engine optimization (GEO) — also called answer engine optimization (AEO) or LLM SEO — makes AI answer engines find, understand, trust and cite your company. BeautyGEO does it only for the beauty supply chain, and measures it with fixed buyer prompts every month.

A definition you can quote

Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of structuring a company's facts, evidence and content so that AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini and AI Overviews, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Grok — can find it, verify it and cite it when a user asks a question the company should be the answer to. For a beauty manufacturer, that question is usually a sourcing prompt: "Which factories make X, with MOQ under Y, certified to Z?"

How AI engines decide which suppliers to name

SignalWhat engines look forWhat we do
1. Entity clarityOne consistent company: name, legal entity, location, productsCompany-facts page, Organization schema, consistent profiles
2. Question-matched pagesA page that answers the exact promptCategory pages and sourcing guides built from real buyer prompts
3. Answer-first contentDirect answers, tables, numbers (MOQ, lead time, standards)Rewrite key pages so the first paragraph answers the question
4. EvidenceCertificates, audits, test standards that can be verifiedEvidence pages with standard numbers, issuers and dates
5. Third-party confirmationDirectories, listings, media repeating the same factsDirectory and industry listings, LinkedIn, trade-media outreach
6. CrawlabilityPages that AI crawlers and search indexes can fetch fastCrawler access, sitemaps, IndexNow, speed, no blocked resources
7. FreshnessRecently updated, dated contentMonthly updates with visible dates

These seven signals come from what the answers themselves cite. In our September 2026 tests, Perplexity cited eight different pages from one factory site — product category pages, buyer guides and landing pages — and none of its PDF brochures. Read the full analysis →

What the programme delivers

  • Baseline report — 30 fixed buyer prompts × six engines, with raw answers
  • Entity foundation — company-facts page, schema markup, profile consistency
  • Evidence pages — certificates, audits, capacity, QC, compliance by market
  • Category pages — one per product line, answer-first, with spec tables
  • Buyer guides — sourcing, comparison and how-to content in English
  • Third-party sources — directories, listings, LinkedIn, trade media
  • Technical layer — crawler access, sitemaps, IndexNow, llms.txt, speed
  • Monthly re-test — same prompts, answer snapshots, next actions

Prompts we optimise for — examples

> Recommend FDA-registered private label skincare manufacturers in China with MOQ under 3,000 units.
> Which airless bottle suppliers offer PCR resin, custom colours and fast sampling for indie brands?
> Which suppliers offer recombinant type III collagen with published efficacy data and EU REACH registration?
> Top turnkey GMP cleanroom contractors for a cosmetics factory in Southeast Asia.
> Which labs in Asia can run ISO 24444 in-vivo SPF tests and prepare MoCRA safety substantiation?

What GEO cannot do

  • It cannot guarantee a position. Answers change with wording, model version and time.
  • It cannot invent credibility. If a certificate does not exist, no page will make AI trust it.
  • It cannot replace sales follow-up. It gets you onto the shortlist; your team still wins the order.
  • It is not paid placement. Ads shown inside ChatGPT are separate from organic answers.

Frequently asked questions

Is GEO the same as AEO or LLM SEO?
In practice, yes. Generative engine optimization, answer engine optimization and LLM SEO all describe improving how AI systems find and cite you. We use GEO because the research that named the field (Aggarwal et al., KDD 2024) did.
Do I need to rebuild my website?
Rarely. Most factories need new pages and restructured facts, not a new site. If your site cannot be crawled — heavy scripts, content only in images or PDFs, Chinese-only hosting that is slow abroad — we fix that first.
Will GEO hurt my Google rankings?
No. The same things that help AI engines — clear facts, answer-first pages, structured data, fast pages — are good SEO practice. Google states there is no special markup needed for AI Overviews beyond normal Search eligibility.
Is llms.txt enough?
No. An llms.txt file is cheap and we add one, but Google has said it does not use it and a 2026 Ahrefs log study found 97% of llms.txt files received no requests in a month. It is a detail, not a strategy. What llms.txt does and does not do →
What do you need from us?
Your real facts: certificates, audit reports, MOQ by product, capacity, lead times, markets served, product specs, and someone who can answer technical questions for an hour a month. We never invent capacity, clients or certifications.
