What a beauty supplier should do for ChatGPT
- Make sure
OAI-SearchBotandChatGPT-Userare not blocked in robots.txt or by your firewall or CDN. - Verify the site in Bing Webmaster Tools and submit new URLs through IndexNow.
- Give every product line its own page with MOQ, lead time, materials and certifications written in text.
- Publish buyer guides that answer sourcing questions directly ("how to choose…", "best … manufacturers").
- Keep the company name, domain and key facts identical on your site, marketplaces and LinkedIn.
- Test several phrasings of each prompt — one changed phrase moved Yanse from #1 to unlisted.
Frequently asked questions
Does ChatGPT use Google?
OpenAI has not published a full list of its search providers, but Bing's role has been widely reported and Bing indexing is a practical prerequisite. Google indexing still matters for Gemini and AI Overviews.
Should I block GPTBot?
That is a business decision about training data. Blocking GPTBot does not block OAI-SearchBot, which is what ChatGPT search uses. Most suppliers who want visibility allow both.
Can I pay to appear in ChatGPT answers?
Ads in ChatGPT are separate, labelled placements. OpenAI states they do not influence the organic answer, which is what GEO works on.
